Salutations,

Firstly, I would like on behalf of our National Officers, to send deepest sympathy and condolences to the families and friends of our external family as well as those of you who have been personally affected by this tragedy. Our hearts are with you and we keep you all in our prayers along with everyone else in Haiti affected by this disaster. Know that we all have an open door policy and we are available should any of you need to talk or need support in any way.

This is the first of many relief efforts to come and we figured that it is the most practical form of assistance to offer.  We have decided to hold a Relief Drive from starting that will last until 1/30/2010. We have designated locations where items can be left off and held until we can sort them out on the weekend of the 30th/ 31st and get them ready for shipping. Two of our National officers, Soror Ermese Finney and Soror Kimbale Taylor, have unselfishly given us their homes to use as drop points and Soror Jonnae Folke is allowing us to utilize the Blue Diamonds club room at York College. Each location is conveniently located in an area where a majority of sisters and brothers can donate items. We ask that you contact them ahead of time to see what times are best for them. Soror Cindy Holder-Parris and myself, are also going to take pick up request.

We are asking that everyone give their strongest effort and determination to this, making this drive successful. If you would still like to make monetary donations you can do so through the organization as well so that we may be able to send a larger donation as one.

Remember, persistence is the key and we already have the determination. The items that are being collected are as followed:

  • non perishable foods
  • WATER
  • toiletries (soaps; tissues, toothe brushes, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, combs, brushes)
  • clothes
  • footwear

Any and everything that is a daily basic need will be collected. I hope you all will assist and if you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me.

Fraternally,
