“I enter my front door step after a hard’s day at work, and I realize that what I’ve done was nothing. My job is like putting a bandaid on a large wound. Grande mas,” says Sandra, director of Caldwell A.M.E Zion Church’s Soup Kitchen.
We live in New York City one of the largest populated, and flourishing cities on the globe, and yet millions of people suffer everyday due to hunger, poverty, and loss of self righteousness. This soup kitchen is a heart-felt soup kitchen in Bronx NY, that caters to many community members, restaurant style. The tables are nicely decorated, the place is very clean, and there is even a childrens section; filled with colorful furniture, games, and books. The environment is very warm welcoming. Sandra is the soup kitchen?s director who is a bubbly boricua who enjoyed Chi’s energy.
Her exact words: “I was so tired and exhausted today but you ladies walked in and my spirits raised; I am so full of energy now, I would love to see you all more often!”
And that is what the ladies of Delta Sigma Chi Sorority inc. Loves to do. We are helping serve the community at soup kitchens all around to put a smile on not only the workers face, but on the faces of hundreds of people who stop by for a balanced meal to eat. It may be a little to us, but a lot to those who are less fortunate. By taking this tiny step we are reaching a grandeur destination. And you can to, by visiting your local soup kitchen. Help us help the community reach greater heights. Si, podemos. Yes we can.
